Former Central Falls Man Found Guilty of Child Molestation

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that today, Jose Colon (age 42), formerly of Central Falls, was found guilty of first degree child molestation. The Kent County Superior Court Jury returned the verdict in approximately four hours after an 11-day trial presided over by Superior Court Justice Brian P. Stern.

During the course of the trial, the State proved that the defendant molested a six-year-old in 2001 at his apartment in Warwick.

Warwick Police Detective Kerri Chatten led the investigation. Special Assistant Attorney General Shannon Signore, Chief of the Child Abuse Unit, prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of Attorney General. Colon was remanded to the ACI pending sentencing, which has been scheduled for January 25, 2016.
