Attorney General Kilmartin Announces Rebate Increase for Rhode Island Naloxone Rebate Program

Kilmartin and Manufacturer Sign Agreement to Increase Rebate to $6 for each Naloxone Syringe Dosage

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin today announced an amended agreement with Naloxone manufacturer Amphastar Pharmaceuticals, Inc., that would increase the company-offered rebate for each Naloxone kit (syringe dosage only) purchased by non-federal government agencies in Rhode Island from $4 per dose to $6 per dose. The rebate is retroactive for purchases made on or after October 1, 2015.

Eligible entities include, but are not limited to, state agencies, municipal governments, state and municipal law enforcement agencies, emergency medical service agencies, or non-profit community based programs.

The Office of Attorney General will continue to process all of the rebate requests. Information and rebate submission forms are available at www.riag.ri.gov.

Since the launch of the rebate program in Rhode Island, the Office has received rebate requests from three entities: The Cumberland School Department, the Pawtucket School Department, and the Compass School in Kingston.

"I am grateful that Amphastar continues to work with my office to help offset the cost of this life saving drug for the state, municipalities, and community organizations," said Attorney General Kilmartin. "I strongly encourage all eligible entities to take advantage of this rebate program. Further, I look forward to working with Governor Raimondo and the General Assembly on how to maximize the proposed $40,000 in funding for the purchase of Naloxone through this program."

Governor Raimondo has proposed an allocation of funds to purchase naloxone to be used by the Rhode Island State Police and local police departments. Those purchases would be eligible for rebates under the rebate program reached by Attorney General Kilmartin and Amphastar.
