Pawtucket Teen Sentenced for Armed Robbery

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that Raheem Nim (age 18), of Pawtucket, pleaded nolo contendre on Monday, March 14, 2016 before Family Court Judge Michael B. Forte to first degree robbery and conspiracy. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Nim, who was 17 years of age at the time of the incident, received a certified sentence of 12 years with five years to serve and the remainder suspended with probation.

Nim will begin his sentence at the Rhode Island Training School until a "modification hearing" takes place at which time a Family Court judge will determine if the sentence should be modified or continued to be served at the Adult Correctional Institution. The modification hearing must be held prior to the 19th birthday of the juvenile. Under certification, Nim is convicted and the sentence will extend into adulthood.

The charges stem from an incident on October 12, 2015 where Raheem Nim and two adult co-defendants - Tredarrius Harrison and Josuet Figueroa - robbed a gas station located at 342 Manton Avenue in Providence. Figueroa held a BB gun rifle and used it to pistol whip the store clerk. Nim placed the store clerk in a chokehold and later pushed the clerk's head down into the register while Harrison grabbed cigarettes off the shelves and Figueroa took money from the cash register.

Co-defendants Tredarrius Harrison (age 23) and Josuet Figueroa (age 23), both of Providence, were indicted by a Providence County Grand Jury on January 8, 2016 on one count of first degree robbery, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of use of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, and one count of conspiracy. Those cases are pending.

The investigation was led by Providence Police Detectives Robert Melaragno, Ronald Riley, and O.R. Proctor. Special Assistant Attorney General Edward Mullaney prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of Attorney General. Special Assistant Attorney General Robert Johnson is handling the cases against co-defendants Harrison and Figueroa.
