PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Governor Gina M. Raimondo today hosted an official swearing-in ceremony for Michael J. Feeney, the new Judge of the state Workers' Compensation Court.
"Michael brings a wide range of legal qualifications to the Workers' Compensation Court," Raimondo said. "I am confident that he will be an excellent addition as this court continues to serve as an example for other states."
"I am honored to have been selected to serve on the Workers' Compensation Court," Feeney said. "I look forward to serving Rhode Island workers with diligence and efficiency."
Michael J. Feeney has been a practicing attorney since 1988, most recently as a partner at Jeffrey & Feeney Attorneys at Law in Warwick. He also previously served as the assistant town solicitor in East Greenwich, and participates in the Superior Court Pilot Program, which provides legal services to indigent defendants in criminal cases. He is a graduate of Suffolk University and the New England School of Law. He lives in East Greenwich.
Feeney will replace former Judge Bruce Q. Morin.
Workers' Compensation Court has jurisdiction over employers and employees relative to work-related injuries, whether traumatic or occupational in nature, and resolves disputes regarding workers' compensation. It is comprised of one Chief Judge and nine Associate Judges.
