Interim Report of the Statewide Grand Jury (Reported August 10, 2016)

Christian Lepore (age 34) 500 Kingstown Road Richmond, RI K1-2016-0457A

The Statewide Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Christian Lepore with one count of murder, four counts of simple assault, and one count of cruelty to a police animal.

It is alleged that on or about May 28, 2016, in the town of West Greenwich, Christian Lepore murdered John O'Neil. It is further alleged that Lepore assaulted four police officers and beat, kicked, and struck K9 Riggs, a dog owned by the Rhode Island State Police.

The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. Lepore is scheduled to be arraigned in Kent County Superior Court on September 2, 2016.

June 13, 2016 shooting of Edward Aquisto

The Statewide Grand Jury has completed its investigation into the facts and circumstances surrounding the June 13, 2016 shooting of Edward Aquisto by members of the Tiverton and Fall River Police Departments. The Grand Jury has determined that the actions of the officers of both departments were lawful and legally justified.
