RIDOT Reopens Lincoln's Mussey Brook Bridge

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation today reopened the Mussey Brook Bridge in Lincoln. The bridge on Route 126 (Old River Road) reopened after it had been closed since July.

Built in 1927, the bridge's original historic stone masonry arch was preserved and strengthened with a new bridge installed on top of the arch. Precast concrete components were used to decrease overall completion time, in turn, reducing the need for motorist detours during the construction phase. The project is on time and on budget, with all work scheduled to wrap up in Spring 2018.

The replacement of the Mussey Brook Bridge was made possible by RhodeWorks, RIDOT's ongoing commitment to repair structurally deficient bridges and bring Rhode Island's transportation infrastructure into a state of good repair, promote economic development, and create jobs.
