Interim Report of the Providence County Grand Jury (Reported January 10, 2018)

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Xavier Vidot with one count of murder and one count us using a firearm while committing a crime of violence and charging Melonie Perez with one count of compounding a felony, one count of failure to report a death, and one count of misprision of a felony.

It is alleged that on or about July 17, 2017, Vidot shot and killed Valdez Loiseau. It is further alleged that on or about July 18, 2017, Perez knowingly compounded or concealed the crime, failed to report the murder, and intended to obstruct justice.

The alleged incidents took place in Cranston and the Cranston Police conducted the investigation. Vidot and Perez are scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court before Justice Robert D. Krause on January 17, 2018.
