Raimondo Directs U.S. and Rhode Island Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Former First Lady Barbara Bush

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In accordance with a Presidential Proclamation, Governor Gina M. Raimondo has ordered that the U.S. and Rhode Island flags at all state facilities and buildings be flown at half-staff until sunset on Friday, April 20th 2018 in honor of former First Lady Barbara Bush.

"Barbara Bush was an inspiration to a generation of Americans," said Raimondo. "I remember being in high school and college watching this strong woman in the national spotlight unafraid to speak her mind - a woman who championed causes like civil rights and education. Her legacy and influence remain as strong today as ever, and my thoughts and prayers are with the Bush family during this difficult time."

Raimondo also asks Rhode Islanders to lower their flags as a mark of respect.
