PROVIDENCE, RI - Governor Gina M. Raimondo issued the following statement today wishing Rhode Islanders a merry Christmas:
"Merry Christmas Eve!
No matter how you celebrate Christmas, I hope you're able to spend the day surrounded by loved ones. Christmas is an especially important holiday in my family. Every year, my mom invites the whole family over to her house to celebrate the traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. After, we go to Christmas Eve Mass and reflect on the joy that Christ's birth brings to Christians across the world.
Every Christmas, I'm grateful for the men and women who wear our nation's uniform with honor, especially those who sacrifice being with their loved ones during the holidays in order to keep us safe. On behalf of all Rhode Islanders, we thank them for their service.
From our family to yours, have a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year."
