PROVIDENCE, RI - Governor Gina M. Raimondo released the following statement today in recognition of those courageous Rhode Islanders and Americans who paid the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our nation.
"Today, we pause to pay tribute to the selfless American men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. We give thanks to those Rhode Islanders and Americans who died in the service of our country. We take time to remember those who did not come home, and to honor those who gave their lives defending all that we hold dear.
"When faced with uncertainty and division, Americans have always come together to honor the fallen service members who fought and died for values that unite all of us. And while Memorial Day is about the fallen, we can never forget our obligations to those who have worn - and still wear - America's uniform."
