NEW Mystic Aquarium Admission is FREE for RI's SNAP Customers

Mystic, Connecticut: Following the success of the new EBT program announced by Mystic Aquarium and the Rhode Island Department of Human Services (DHS) earlier this year, the decision has been made to further expand the program for the remainder of the year. Rhode Island Electronic Benefit (EBT) cardholders will now receive complimentary access to Mystic Aquarium.

Effective immediately and running through December 31, 2019, Rhode Island SNAP EBT cardholders will simply show their EBT card and valid, matching personal identification to receive complimentary admission to Mystic Aquarium for themselves and up to three (3) guests. The newly revised program also allows the card holder four (4) additional guest tickets to be purchased for $5 each. Children 2 and under are free.

"The opportunity for growth and learning experienced by DHS families who visit Mystic Aquarium will be long-lasting and not to mention, loads of fun," DHS Director Courtney E. Hawkins said. "This is a great example of a community and business partnership that will help us provide opportunities for memorable family adventures."

The expanded admission policy will allow families to enjoy not only the long-standing favorites like beluga whales, penguins and sharks but also Mystic Aquarium's new Wild Arctic augmented reality exhibit. Plus, with special events throughout the year like World Ocean's Day, Fiesta Del Oceano and so many more, Rhode Islanders will want to visit Mystic Aquarium over-and-over throughout the year.

"Every day we see children enjoying the Aquarium," said Dr. Stephen M. Coan, Mystic Aquarium's President and CEO. "Giving more children and families the opportunity to enjoy the discovery of ocean life by engaging with animals and our incredible team helps to create that sense of wonder in children. It is only through these genuine experiences that we can hope to fulfill our mission to inspire current and future generations to care for and protect our ocean planet."
