Governor Raimondo Directs Flags to Fly at Half-Staff to Honor Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens

PROVIDENCE, RI- In accordance with a presidential proclamation, Governor Gina M. Raimondo is directing U.S. and Rhode Island flags at all state agencies and buildings to be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 in memory of Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. The flags will remain at half-staff until sunset.

"On behalf of myself, my family, and the entire state of Rhode Island, I offer condolences to the family of Justice Stevens," said Governor Gina M. Raimondo. "A decorated World War II codebreaker and a venerated legal mind who spent 35 years on the highest court in the land, Justice Stevens dedicated his life to serving the United States of America. His passing is a great loss for our nation."

Raimondo also asks Rhode Islanders to lower their flags to half-staff as a mark of respect.
