PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) in partnership with Indie Cycle is hosting an e-waste collection event at Goddard Park.
What: E-Waste Recycling Drop-off
Where: Goddard Park, Farmers' Market, 145 Ives Road, Warwick
When: Friday, August 23, 9 AM – 1 PM
Items accepted at no charge include computers, laptops, monitors, televisions, routers, PDAs, cell phones, mice, keyboards, inkjet printers, toner cartridges, CD and DVD players, radios, network equipment, wires, stereos, plastic speakers, telephones, microwaves, small household appliances, auto and marine batteries, and battery back-ups.
"Special collection events like this make it easy to do the right thing with e-waste," says Krystal Noiseux, Education and Outreach Manager at RI Resource Recovery. "In addition to the TVs and computers that are banned from landfill disposal, this event gives residents the opportunity to recycle even more electronic items, helping to further extend the life of the state's Central Landfill."
A $10 disposal fee applies to each laser-jet printer, air conditioner, dehumidifier, and other devices containing coolants. Items not accepted include light bulbs, household batteries, tapes/disks, glass, broken TV tubes, wooden-boxed speakers, Styrofoam, or any hazardous waste materials.
