Traffic Advisory: Two-Night Temporary Closure of Exit 22 B/C off I-95 North in Providence

Monday and Tuesday Nights, September 16 and 17

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will temporarily close Exit 22 B/C off I-95 North overnight as part of a seven-bridge $10.4 million preservation project in the City of Providence. Weather permitting, the closures are scheduled on Monday and Tuesday nights, September 16 and September 17 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists will follow a short, two-mile detour using Exit 23 (State Offices/Route 146.) This will allow RIDOT to replace bridge railings. Exit 22A will remain open.

The detour routes are available at Turn by turn direction are as follows:

I-95 North to Exit 23 (State Offices/Route 146)

Turn right onto Orms Street

Turn right onto Douglas Avenue

Turn right onto the on-ramp to I-95 South

Take I-95 South to Exit 22B (Route 6 West)

Final completion for the project is scheduled for spring 2021.
