Governor Donald L. Carcieri today issued the following statement regarding the completion of a final report of the Independent Review Committee.
“I want to thank President Ruth Simmons and the other very distinguished members of the Independent Review Committee. I'm grateful for the time and effort they have expended in a process that I hope will help the State and the Tribe begin to heal the wounds opened by the events of July 14th. They have done a terrific job of determining what happened, why it happened, and the steps we can take to reduce the possibility of this type of incident occurring ever again."
“I accept the committee’s findings, and plan to quickly begin the process of implementing many of their recommendations in the coming days and weeks.”
