Cranston man sentenced to 10 years at the ACI on firearm charges

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that Suliva Hong (age 27) of Cranston pleaded nolo contendere in Providence Superior Court on October 25, 2019 to two felony firearm charges. Superior Court Justice Susan E. McGuirl sentenced Hong to 20 years with 10 years to serve at the Adult Correctional Institutions and the balance suspended with probation.

Hong pleaded to one count of possession of a pistol without a license and one count of possession of a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence.

Had the case proceeded to trial, the State was prepared to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that on September 19, 2015, Hong was pulled over by Providence Police while in possession of a 9mm Sig Sauer pistol. Hong was also known to law enforcement as a member of the Dark Side Rascal Gang.

Detective Thomas Zincone, Investigator Robert Foley, and Patrolman Daryl Pfeiffer of the Providence Police Department led the investigation into the case. Assistant Attorney General Joseph McBurney prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General.
