Massachusetts man sentenced to 6 years at the ACI after pleading guilty to first-degree robbery

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that Anthony Harris (age 27), of Dorchester, MA, pleaded guilty in Providence County Superior Court on December 12, 2019 to one count of first-degree robbery. Superior Court Justice Luis M. Matos sentenced Harris to 12 years with six years to serve at the Adult Correctional Institutions and the balance suspended with probation.

The court also issued a no-contact order between Harris and the victim. Additionally, Harris was ordered to pay $590 in restitution to the victim.

Had the case proceeded to trial, the State was prepared to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that on August 30, 2018, Harris robbed the victim of her purse as she walked to her vehicle in the parking lot of Twin River Casino in Lincoln.

Detective Kyle Wingate of the Lincoln Police Department led the investigation into the case. Special Assistant Attorney Eric Batista prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General.
