State Arts Council Announces New Exhibit at T.F. Green Airport Gallery Space

The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) announced today a new art exhibition on display at GREEN SPACE Gallery at TF Green Airport. The first GREEN SPACE exhibition of 2020 features works by Shaun Rock and Brenda Wrigley Scott and will be on display through May 17, 2020.

Shaun Rock is known for his coastal and rural landscapes of Rhode Island. A highly regarded art teacher who nurtures creative young minds, Rock is presenting art works resulting from his summer wanderings along the coastline of Matunuck, Rhode Island. They represent the picturesque charm and the rustic character of this sleepy hamlet, a favorite muse for his creative endeavors. He executes many of his works "en plein air". His landscapes follow the historical path paved by the renowned "School of Matunuck" art movement of the late 19th century, his paintings invoking a feeling of freedom conveyed by the subject matter, the brilliant chromatic palette and impasto technique.

Brenda Wrigley Scott is a studio artist and potter based in Tiverton Four Corners, Rhode Island. Her recent acrylic paintings on paper of wild birds are a celebration of color, texture and movement in nature. The backgrounds and settings for these large format works on exhibit at GREEN SPACE are suggestive and nuanced abstractions of avian environments: land, sea, sky, and woodscape. Wrigley Scott's paintings embrace the movement of flight and the poised stature of marine birds.

Exhibitors for GREEN SPACE were chosen by panelists Nancy Whipple Grinnell, Ana Flores and Angel Smith.

The GREEN SPACE Gallery and Block Island Airport Gallery are a partnership between the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts and the Rhode Island Airport Corporation, promoting outstanding work by artists living and working in Rhode Island. The galleries present art to an ever-changing audience of local, national and international travelers.
