Board coordinates with Department of Health to ensure polling place readiness on April 28 and encourages voters to cast mail ballots.

CRANSTON, RI Due to the presence of the Covid-19 Coronavirus in Rhode Island, the Board of Elections is coordinating with the RI Department of Health and other state agencies to ensure that polling places are prepared for the Presidential Preference Primary to be held on April 28.

Steps are being taken to ensure that local election officials follow the latest guidelines for polling places issued by the U.S. Center for Disease Control to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Voting equipment prepared and tested by the Board of Elections will also follow sanitation guidelines issued by the CDC and equipment manufacturers.

Voters who are concerned about going to the polls may request a mail ballot. Voting by mail is easy and secure.

Voters can visit the Board of Canvassers in their City or Town Hall, or follow these steps:

1. Complete an application on our website at www.elections.ri.gov 2. Print and sign it. 3. Submit it to the Board of Canvassers in your City or Town Hall by April 7. The list of addresses is on the application. 4. Wait for your ballot to arrive in your mailbox. 5. Return the ballot to the Board of Elections by 8:00 p.m. on April 28.

Before applying, voters can verify their voter registration information at www.vote.ri.gov.
