Michael Lanowy Promoted to Lieutenant

Corrections Director A.T. Wall II is pleased to announce that Michael Lanowy of Cranston, R.I., has been promoted to Lieutenant at the RIDOC’s Intake Service Center. The Intake Service Center serves as the state’s jail and is the largest of the seven RIDOC facilities with approximately 1,140 inmates.

An eight-year veteran of the RIDOC, Lt. Lanowy began his successful career with the RIDOC as a Correctional Officer in 1999, serving at the John J. Moran Medium Security facility. He had previously worked as a Lieutenant/Site Supervisor with Guardsmark Security, Inc., in Boston, as a loader with UPS in Warwick, and as a Community Service Officer with the Narragansett Police Department.

Lt. Lanowy holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Johnson & Wales University and an Associate of Science in Law Enforcement from the Community College of Rhode Island.
