Lt. Gov. Roberts to Read to Children at Event Celebrating Dr. Seuss

PROVIDENCE— Lt. Gov. Elizabeth H. Roberts will read to children as a guest reader at the National Education Association of Rhode Island’s Read Across America Celebration, SATURDAY, February 28th, at 11:30 a.m. at Warwick Mall.

The Read Across America Celebration is organized by the National Education Association of Rhode Island, and celebrates the birthday of noted children’s book author, Theodore Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss. The Read Across America events across the country are an opportunity for families to focus on the importance of reading, both at home and as a critical element in improving successful student performance in school. The goal of Read Across America is for every child in the country to participate in some form of reading activity during that day.

In addition to readings by Lt. Gov. Roberts and other guest readers, the Read Across America Celebration will feature activities for children and parents, displays of student projects from the Great Public Schools Expo, raffles for Dr. Seuss books, and an appearance by the character “Cat in the Hat.”
