Division of Motor Vehicles Reminds Public of Fee Increases for Reinstatement of Suspended Licenses and/or Suspended Registrations Effective Monday, May 18, 2009

Effective Monday, May 18, 2009, all DMV-Operator Control fees associated with the reinstatement of suspended licenses and/or registrations will increase as indicated below.

  • License reinstatement fees increase to $151.50 (currently $76.50).
  • License reinstatement fees for DUI for alcohol or drugs, or refusal to submit to chemical test convictions increase to $351.50 (currently $76.50).
  • Registration (license plates) reinstatement fees increase to $251.50 (currently $51.50)

Individuals with both license and registration suspensions will pay a combination of the above fees based on the appropriate conviction(s).

These fees are based on amended legislation of Rhode Island General Laws 31-8-4, 31-11-10, 31-27-2, 31-27-2.1, 31-27-2.2 or 31-27-2.6 (www.rilin.state.ri.us/statutes/title31/index.htm). Each reinstatement fee also includes a $1.50 technology surcharge.

All licenses and/or registration reinstatement fees must be paid by cash, check, or money order, and may be paid either in person or by mail:
